The short version
SimpleSankey runs in your browser. The data you type into a diagram stays on your device and is never sent to us. The only personal information we collect is your email address, if you choose to sign up for updates. We also use privacy-focused visitor statistics (page views, not individuals) to see whether the site is being used.

The SimpleSankey app and your diagram data
The numbers, names and settings you enter in the app are processed only in your browser. They are not uploaded, stored on our servers or shared with anyone. Project files (.sankey) and exported images are saved only where you choose on your own device. We cannot see them and cannot recover them for you, so keep your own copies.
The app has a "Need help formatting your data?" section that offers text you can copy into an AI assistant of your choice. That step happens outside SimpleSankey, and what you paste into that assistant is governed by that provider's terms, not ours.
Cookies and browser storage
We do not set cookies and we do not use advertising trackers. The app saves a few preferences in your browser's local storage so they are there next time: which sidebar panels are open or closed, and your most recently used custom colours. This stays on your device, is not sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser's site settings.
Visitor statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits to this website and the app, so we can tell whether anyone is using SimpleSankey. It shows us things like which pages were viewed, roughly where visitors came from (for example which website linked to us), the country, and the type of browser and device, along with page loading times. Cloudflare says it does not use cookies or local storage for this, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not collect or use visitors' personal data. We use it only to see overall usage, not to identify or follow individuals. It never sees what you type into a diagram, your project files or your exports. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.
What we collect and why
If you use the sign-up form, we collect your email address so we can tell you about SimpleSankey updates and new features. We do not collect anything else through the form. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form.
Who handles your email
We use Web3Forms (web3forms.com) as our form delivery service, and it acts on our behalf. Submissions are sent over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, encrypted at rest. Because AWS may store data outside the UK, your email address may be transferred and stored in other countries. We do not sell, rent or share your email address with marketers or other third parties.
Website hosting
This website is delivered through Cloudflare. As with any website, Cloudflare handles technical information such as your IP address and browser details when your browser asks for our pages, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use this information to identify you.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it. Web3Forms stores form submissions for a maximum of 3 years, or until deletion is requested.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your data, or withdraw your consent at any time, by emailing [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top.
